‘Would You Wear Your Dog’s Fur ?’ – Twiggy asks

Campain against wearing natural fur advanced with another one voice – fashion icon Twiggy speaking against wearig fur. Fashion icon of the 60ies Twiggy is with her dog Jasmine posing for shoots in this anti fur campain ongoing by PETA.

Far from being nature-friendly wearig natural fur is still assosiates with glam, sexuality, or success sometimes (in such countries as France or Russia), so encouraging still production of new fashion designs that include natural fur, including those expensive or rare  furs.

But far or less, as Twiggy mentions, ‘the only difference between our ‘best friends’ and animals killed for thier fur is how we treat them’.

– You rose to fame in the ’60s, and as most models did, you wore fur. When did you first become aware of the cruelty involved in the fur trade?

– I’m ashamed to say I did wear fur in the mid-60s, but I blame my ignorance and youth. Since the age of about 20 when I became aware of the cruelty involved in the fur trade, I made the decision never to wear fur again. I have been totally opposed to wearing fur ever since, and I do all I can to help organisations like PETA that work to stop this cruelty.

– In addition to being an actor, model and author, you are a designer. Do you always make a point of telling companies that you refuse to use fur in your designs?

– Absolutely. No fur is ever used in my Twiggy line of clothes for Littlewoods. Also, as an actor, I refuse to have fur in any productions I might be involved in.

-Do you have any animal companions? If so, can you tell us a bit about them?

-I have a beautiful black cat called Titania whom I love and adore. She runs the house! She came, she purred, she conquered.

The campain is directly opposed  to the another one running by PETA.

Anna Wintour, american Vogue magazine’s editor-in-chief, has long been criticized for her fascinative partiality towards rare natural furs, and for more than a decade Anna Wintour annoys ‘green organizations’ with her constant and self-confident propaganda of rare furs. The style editor not not wears fur herself but also encourages the journal readership to favour natural furs towards artifical.

But… may it be that that it is an old fur coats that  Wintour wears today but was bought in the mid 70-ies ? Hopefully, it is not that by Cavalli ?

“Many designers pay now Hollywood celebs to wear thier clothes for the red carpet !” – told Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean-Paul Gaultier is sitting at the kitchen table at his office in Paris, halfway through a rant about the craven relationship between fashion designers and Hollywood actresses.

“Can you believe some people now pay them to wear zee clothes for zee red carpet, it is absolutely hallucinating!”

Hallucinating? But before I have time to ask what he means, his personal chef plonks down a divine-looking creation of citrus fruit and sponge cake in front of him. Gaultier’s eyes flicker, momentarily torn between his ideals and his pudding. The pudding wins. “Oh, zis cake,” he shudders with pleasure, “it’s like the art of a nun.”

Why Is It So Much Ago About Shorts & Pants ?

Luckely shorts are the most interesting trend of the women fashion this Spring/Summer.

Ready-to-wear fashion designers choose shorts as a practical based solution for all occasions – from business style mode to casual wears. It seems that fashion designers who are looking for a kind of new feminine today going to focus on shorts (middle lenght pants) as a kind of solution rather than just as on a model of women’s wear. Shorts tend to be comfortable but feminine at once – so more adaptive to the behaviour of a women today.

Jean Paul Cauvin, editor from Fashion Daily News, explains why it’s so much ago about shorts this season.

‘Anyway, the leading trend for this summer is shorts – from mid lenght to long. I think the new design shorts whatevere lenght they are – they look like skirts actually. Moving that what you want to be seen – including legs (legs are going to be seen)… but not the rest, not that you don’t what to be seen by people in public. Shorts allows you to sit a bit more comfortably…

So, they are more adapted, i think, to the behavior of a women today who are looking for something free and for something also sexy… It seems that the designers try to find again a new form of feminity’.

Introducing a vest as the best choise to accompany shorts Jean Paul Cauvin outlines few trends dominating ‘the vests fashion’ today:

‘The vest is very hight – so the vest is refinding its natural place. This is always the case (as well as for pants and skirts) this spring and summer’.

Young fashion model speaking about her career in fashion – what she expected and what she got

When I met Masha Tulina at the first time she just talked to me happyly and peacefully ‘Just call me ‘Masha’, lying down to the sofa at the bar we were sitting together and smoking bubbles at her cockteil.

[Note.

Masha (inborn name – Maria) Tulina a young fashion model, born in 1989, Ukraine, and was invited  to work firstly in Japan in 2006 and than in Paris since 2007. After she sucesfully worked in Italy, USA, Paris, Japan, Nothern Korea, and was colled for many times ‘an upcoming next model star’.]

– Luky you. You have a short name to introduce yourself  ’Masha’… It sounds so perfectly glam – whenever one can introduce herself in casual way… Don’t you think that contempory mode style, androgynous, is all about that?

– How to be ‘Masha’? answering me in her ‘firmily’ funky way…

– No… I mean… It’s all about how to be playful and non-serious – with nor respect to your gender, social class or political orientation?

Guess, David Bowie could win next presidental elections - if I would be his Prime Minister!

Masha Tulova - an upcoming fashion modelling beauty from Russia.

– I’ve never used to think metaphisically until this moment. Lucky me, isn’t me? And I’ve never thought about androgynous fashion withing political issues! Guess, David Bowie could win next presidental elections  if I would be his prime minister! Anybody needs a prime minister with some work expirience as a fashion model?

– Hmmm… I would need one! If I would run the next prisidential elextions! What do you think – may fashion be a kind of philosophy of life.

– Of course, i think so!

Masha is turning to speak seriously with shining tone shifting in her voice.

– It’s incredibly interesting fact but what you are particulary wear on you may influence how you behave… I mean, I have some clothes that inspire my to behave more brave or, on the contrary, to be more tiny.

– OK. As we are two girls sitting here in the bar  – let’s talk seriously until the moment. When you came to Paris – to work as a model – what was your first impression about the city?

– I wouldn’t ever forever understand how to use the tube map correctly!

– Or… so sorry about this! And the second one?

– Hmmm. I’m hungry! Why everything is open until 8 o’clock only?

– Pretty gorgerous surprise ! Had the same feeling when i came to Paris at the first time! And what was your third one?

– I have no money to do both things – to pay for the room and to have a delicious dinner in Paris (i pretty wanted to selebrate my first big job).

– What was your choise?

Masha - a female fashion model posing for a camera in two different female designs as a garson.

'I still can't understand how to use the tube map properly!'

– Choose a pretty dinner as a celebration. So, instead of renting a flat I used to sleep for two days on a sofa at our agency [the model dgency Masha mentions here a models agency she was working with at that time] – at the guest room. It was incrediably nice and challenging! Alas! I didn’t not mention the fact – our boss was agaist of this sort of domestic interior and all of office furniture!

– Do you think your carier in fashion business rather sucessful or … how you could describe it? In few words? what else you with to add to describe your carrier in fashion business in few words?

– I’m happy with my life! I very like it – no matter if it’s a rainy weather or sun is shining on!

Masha posing into a white and plack t-shorts for two different shots.

I’m happy with my life! And it doesn't matter if it’s a rainy weather or sun is shining on! - To byu delicious food and so (instead of renting a flat) to sleep for one week at our agency on the sofa at the guest room. - I wouldn’t ever forever understand how to use the tube map correctly!

The Extravagant World Of Child Beauty Pageants…

Susan Anderson, a girl from the series 'High Glitz'

Susan Anderson, a girl from the series 'High Glitz'.

American photographer Susan Anderson has released High Glitz, a book that examines the perverse world of child beauty pageants and accompanies her photographic series of the same name (recently on display at acte2galerie, Paris).

The photographer has spent the past three years on the pageant circuit, snapping Southern Belles in between their time on stage and in the make-up chair.  Despite minimal encouragement from Anderson, the living dolls ham it up for the camera, flashing their flippers (prosthetic teeth) and sometimes a bit of skin as well.

Susan Anderson, 'Mary Ashton', a girl posing in a lemon pink with a have make-up,, from the series 'High Glitz'

Susan Anderson, 'Mary Ashton' child fashion from the series 'High Glitz'.

Some of the girls’ parents were upset with these photos.  Why?  The shots aren’t retouched and contain ‘imperfections’ that are normally airbrushed out of conventional pageant headshots.  While Anderson takes a sociological approach that neither approves of nor condemns pageant culture, the photographs speak for themselves; no child should be preened to look like a mini-hooker, it’s just plain wrong.

Here it’s Susan Anderson’s live interview on her book promotion show.

Karl Lagerfeld Plays Coco Chanel in Interview Calls Self “Idiot”

Harper’s Bazaar Magazine asked Karl Lagerfeld to channel Coco Chanel and give her “opinions” of the world of today, from Botox to Karl himself for their September 2009 issue.  A preview of “Coco’s” answers, below.

Harper’s Bazaar: What’s the new Chanel classic?
Karl Lagerfeld playing Coco Chanel: As apparently my old jacket is still around, done by this idiot Karl, I have to help him find a new idea.

Fashion icon Coco Chanel posing to a camera smoking and in a black dress.

Paris chic by Coco Chanel - is it her what her question for modern designers?

Harper’s Bazaar: What’s on your iPod?
Karl Lagerfeld playing Coco Chanel: The Kills. They suit my character.

Harper’s Bazaar: What would you change about your looks? Would you consider Botox?

Karl Lagerfeld playing Coco Chanel: When I look at myself in the mirror, I think I’m pretty modern — whatever that means. But maybe I should change my makeup. In my day, the products were dreadful.

Harper’s Bazaar: Your clothing liberated women in the 1920s. Are you still a feminist?
Karl Lagerfeld playing Coco Chanel: I was never a feminist because I was never ugly enough for that.

HB: You were famous for your paramours. Whom would you have an affair with today?
Karl Lagerfeld playing Coco Chanel: I like handsome men, so there would be many possibilities, but dukes and princes are not the right escort for a woman like me today. I like to charm younger men. This has not changed.

La Vie In Fashion:

Karl Lagerfeld plays Coco Chenel with a lot of funny jokes and humoristic acsents… But what taste has a real interview with Coco Chanel ? Is it a kind of excentric discussion ‘sur la mode’ or joky talking over lunch, coffee and ‘croissant française’ ?… Here it’s the first interview Coco Chanel gave to television at here office in Paris. Miss Chanel (as well as in her other talks) looks elegant and a little nervous – vividly talking over her passion with clothes, lines, proportions, silhouette. Far widely than over mode canons or mode ambitions themselves.
